JEDDAH: While Saudi officials are screening incoming airline passengers with thermal-imaging cameras as part of their efforts to keep the swine flu virus out of the Kingdom, 72 people have been treated in hospital for dengue fever in Jeddah in the past week.
“All the patients are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals,” said Dr. Sami Badawood, director of Health Affairs in Jeddah.
He said all related departments were striving their best to prevent the spread of the mosquito-borne tropical virus. Municipal health workers continue spraying at locations where the mosquitoes are found in large numbers.
