JEDDAH: Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal will attend on Monday a workshop to explain the municipality’s new strategic plan for the development of Jeddah.
Adel Fakieh, Jeddah’s mayor, said Prince Khaled had ordered the municipality to prepare the plan in order to have a comprehensive strategy for urban green zones, developing the local economy, environmental protection, social services, tourism development, transportation infrastructure, entertainment, housing and the development of unorganized districts.
Fakieh said the municipality had sought local and international expertise to draw up the outline for the new strategy. “In order to finalize the municipality’s strategic goals in the next 20 years, we need the support and opinions of various agencies, including the private sector,” he said.
The plan also aims at creating a vision and a timeline to transform Jeddah into a modern city with international competitiveness and abilities to provide high living standards and a clean environment.
“Our goal is to transform the vision into a reality by developing and activating the city’s role as a gateway to the two holy mosques and as an economic and tourism hub for the whole region,” Fakieh said.
