RIYADH: Saudi customs authorities stopped attempts to smuggle in large quantities of cigarettes to the Kingdom and flee with SR1 million in currency from the country in two separate operations at Al-Batha Customs, located southeast of the Kingdom close to the UAE borders, on Thursday, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday.

In the first operation a man attempting entry was found carrying 200 cartons of cigarettes stored in the boot of his car. In the second operation a man leaving the Kingdom to a neighboring country was arrested for carrying SR933,000 in undeclared funds.
