Six Saudi car racing champions — Ahmed Al-Tabsh, Sultan Hamdi, Saud Al-Oqail, Raid Zahran, Turki Allam and Saleem Al-Tabsh, all members of the Saudi Corvette and Camaro Club — will participate in the festival.

Saud Al-Oqail, chairman of the organizing committee, said the program is aimed at encouraging young men and women, families and other individuals to take part in social and voluntary activities.

“This festival is a first of its kind,” said Al-Oqail, adding that it is has been organized by the Saudi Corvette and Camaro Club in association with the Ministry of Social Affairs. “We expect the participation of more than a thousand families,” he said.

He said the festival would include displays by international car racing champion Sultan Hamdi and various recreational programs. “This program is aimed at promoting a culture of volunteerism and encouraging people to provide greater care to the orphans. It also aims at bringing a smile to the faces of these children who have lost their mothers and fathers,” said Hamdi.

He commended the government for supporting orphans by establishing orphanages in various parts of the country. He said Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has urged Muslims to take care of orphans.

“According to a Hadith of the Prophet, those who take care of orphans will enter Paradise.”

Ahmed Al-Tabsh, another participant said he considered his support to the festival a religious and national duty. “Islam has instructed us to support the needy as well as those in trouble,” he said.
