- JEDDAH: It has recently transpired that an Egyptian doctor was sentenced to four-months in prison for fighting with another man, a Saudi national.
The doctor then appealed the verdict, hoping to be released early, but was turned down. Instead, the court sentenced his rival, the Saudi man, to three months in prison. The Saudi man accepted the verdict and was soon released after becoming eligible for the recent royal pardon. The doctor, however, has remained in prison, as he is not eligible for the pardon because of the appeal he lodged.
