The doctor staged the sit-in in front of the NSHR office. “The NSHR was kind enough to help me end my protest within 48 hours. They have provided me and my wife and three children with lodging and tried to speak to my sponsor,” said the Sudanese doctor, Yahya Mokhtar.

He added that the NSHR contacted his company’s head office in Riyadh, and told those in charge about his situation. The company agreed to send Mokhtar and his family’s iqamas and passports for renewal and then arrange final exit visas for them.

“Two days after this agreement, the company contacted the NSHR saying that their secretary who arranges these things (muaqib) is not in Riyadh and that on his return the iqamas and passports would be sent, but nothing has happened so far,” said Mokhtar.

“The NSHR asked why there is a delay to which the company replied that its computer link with the Labor Office had been shut down and that it needed two weeks to resolve the matter,” he added.
