- COTABATO CITY, Philippines: Gunmen killed two of four hostages they abducted last week in a southern Philippine province, an army spokesman said Tuesday.
- Captain Arnold Gaslatan said the bodies of the two victims were recovered Monday in Tangkal town in Lanao del Norte province, 810 kilometers south of Manila.
He said the victims, identified as Aliodin Manalo Rasban and Kaharo Rasban Pascual, were abducted with two companions Wednesday.
The fate of other hostages was not yet known.
Gaslatan said the kidnappers were believed to be members of a group involved in a feud with the families of the victims.
Feuding groups and families in the southern Philippine region of Mindanao often settle differences through fighting. Clan wars often erupt over land disputes and political rivalry.
