Pune Police Commissioner Satya Pal Singh  said that the student, Abhishek Saxena, hailing from Lucknow, passed away this morning at the Inlaks and Budhrani hospital. With this the official death toll in the Pune blast has climbed to 10.

Maintaining a tight silence on the progress of the investigations, Singh said that the report from the Forensic Science Laboratory was received on Monday night in which the experts said that explosives like RDX mixed with ammonium nitrate and petroleum hydro carbon oil were used in the bomb.

Police sources say two supporters of the Indian Mujahideen (IM) which is alleged to be a subsidiary of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist outfit were arrested on Monday evening from two different suburbs of the city.

One is alleged to have transported the explosives into the city, while the other is alleged to have placed the bag containing the bomb. Sources also said that the police earlier on Sunday, picked up three Muslim youths from a Muslim locality, making the arrests so far to six.

There were also reports that the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) police had also picked up two suspects of the Pune blast from neighboring Aurangabad district and that they are being questioned. Four teams of the ATS have moved to Delhi, Aurangabad, Nashik and Malegaon and are questioning suspects in these places.

Singh also said that the CCTV footage obtained from the hotel opposite the German Bakery had provided the police with vital clues. Singh also refused to spell out the names of the terrorists outfits which the police suspect to be behind the blast.

The Federal Home Minister P. Chidambaram has placed a informal gag on ministers and police, so  that even the state chief minister, Ashok Chavan, and home minister, RR Patil, are refusing to speak to the media about the investigations.
