Sultan bin Jamal Shawli, undersecretary at the Ministry of Mineral Wealth, will represent the ministry at the three-day conference, which is to be attended by experts from Arab countries. An international exhibition on minerals will also be concurrently held with the conference.

The Saudi delegation will present an oversight of mineral activities in the Kingdom and exhibit the various mineral resources available there. The delegation will also highlight investment opportunities available in this sector.

The conference will be jointly organized by the Egyptian Trade Union of Scientific Professions and the Saudi-Egyptian Foundation for Mineral Services.

Egyptian Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Samih Fahmi, Minister of Commerce and Industry Rasheed Muhamamad Rashed and other ministers and officials will also attend the conference.

The three-day meeting will review a number of geological studies about mineral wealth in the Arab countries, the exploration and industrialization of raw mineral material to increase its added value, and the cooperation and coordination among governments in this domain.

The meeting will also consider the current changes in the world mineral and quarry market, and will discuss the possibility of forming an Arab cartel similar to the world mineral cartels.
