Sony Gulf, the regional arm of consumer electronics giant Sony, last week unveiled a new range of Cyber-shot cameras - T-series, W-series and S-series in Riyadh. The ultra compact and stylish cameras feature intuitive imaging and advanced video recording, while delivering effortless photo capture and beautiful images for any user. Well-known for its slim and chic design, the T-series Cyber-shot DSC-TX7 is available in fashionable dark blue, red and silver colors. DSC-TX7, described as the world's slimmest camera with full HD (1920 x 1080, 50i) AVCHD video recording, comes with a 10.2-megapixel resolution and is the first T-series product to be equipped with a 25mm wide-angle lens enabling users to shoot dynamic, high quality full HD videos with smooth subject movement. The Cyber-shot S-series, DSC-S2100 and DSC-S2000, sport extremely user-friendly controls and come with a resolution of up to 12.1 megapixels, while a large 3.0-inch Clear Photo LCD screen on the DSC-S2100 enables users to capture and view pictures easily.

The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland-Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain), established in 2004, has rapidly developed a reputation for offering an international standard of medical education. RCSI-Bahrain opened its new state-of-the-art campus in February 2009, which offers the latest in medical teaching facilities and is staffed by academic and administrative personal from Ireland and Bahrain. Its medical school was accredited by the GCC Medical Schools Deans' Committee in February 2006 and is included in the World Health Organization and the Directory of Medical Schools. RCSI also has international campuses in Dubai and Malaysia. Headquartered in Dublin, the RCSI is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving human health through education, research and service. Dr. Hana Kadhom, an Iraqi born woman, began her nursing career at Baghdad University, lecturing nursing students and working in a Baghdad hospital. Leaving Iraq in the mid eighties to study for a PhD in the UK, she continued her fascination with nursing. Not only did she expand her knowledge but work in local hospitals and lectured at university and colleges. She accepted a post of lecturer in nursing at RCSI Bahrain in 2009 and continues to inspire health care professionals at this internationally recognized institution to further their education. "The introduction of the new bridging program at RCSI Bahrain will provide students the opportunity to develop their skills," she said.

"Good Morning Saudi," a promotion related to breakfast items, was introduced at Alkhobar Lulu Saudi Hyper Market in Eastern Province recently. The breakfast items, which include varieties of fruit and vegetables, biscuits, cornflakes and oats by world-class manufacturers, are specially selected by health experts. They are showcased at Lulu. The promotion ended last week. According to Abdul Basher, regional manager at Lulu, bakery and confectionery items of international standards, as well as milk and milk products, honey and honey products, and olives were among the other attractions during the promotion. ZAIN/MOTOROLA
The Networks business of Motorola, Inc. has signed a contract with Zain Saudi Arabia to deploy the first Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in the Kingdom. Motorola will be deploying the largest LTE network for Zain in Riyadh and will provide an end-to-end LTE solution including radio access network (RAN), evolved packet core (EPC), devices and optimization and integration services. Deployment will begin in the second quarter enabling Zain to offer high-speed mobile broadband services to its customers. "Motorola is pioneering the development and deployment of 4G, and we are delighted to be working closely with Motorola on this strategic LTE roll out as we address the mobile broadband needs of today's consumers in Saudi Arabia who are looking for rich, personalized media experiences," said Ismail Fikree, COO, Zain Saudi Arabia.
EPFL
The Rolex Learning Center (RLC), one of Europe's most ambitious new buildings for learning, designed by the internationally acclaimed Japanese architectural practice, Sejima and Nishizawa and Associates (SANAA), opened at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) on Monday. Known by its French acronym EPFL, it is one of Europe's leading centers for study and research into science, technology, engineering and architecture. The campus brings together over 10,000 students, professors, researchers and entrepreneurs on a landmark site on Lake Geneva in Switzerland. EPFL is currently ranked number one in Europe in the international university rankings, alongside Cambridge, in the fields of engineering, technology and computer sciences. The RLC, designed by SANAA, is conceived as a fully integrated learning environment, providing a seamless network of services, libraries, information gathering, social spaces, spaces to study, restaurants, cafes and beautiful outdoor spaces.
CPC/HRDF
Construction Products Holding Company (CPC) has signed an agreement with the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF), Makkah branch, to recruit and train 490 young Saudis in its factories and companies Kingdom wide. The new agreement was signed on behalf of CPC by Faysal Alaquil, director of business development and administration affairs, and by Hisham bin Abdurrahman Linjawi, Makkah branch manager, on behalf of (HRDF). This is the latest in a series of partnerships between CPC and HRDF dating back to 2007. "We have been working together with HRDF for the last three years, and have trained 2,320 young Saudis in our factories and companies across the Kingdom. We are delighted to continue this partnership as part of our community service as well as our commitment to support government initiatives in this regard," said Alaquil.
MODON
Saudi Industrial Property Authority (MODON) has contracted an international specialized company to study the current business situation, identify all requirements and actions needed for maintenance and rehabilitation of infrastructure, and improve industrial cities. The contract was signed with Dalkia Company to conduct a technical evaluation of the industrial city and identify deficiencies or aspects of disorder, propose solutions and remedies, and follow up the implementation of maintenance work. Dalkia is a global company specializing in the evaluation of industrial cities and has begun the evaluation process in Riyadh's 2nd Industrial City. With this, MODON aims to conduct a technical evaluation for all the existing industrial cities. In 2009, the company conducted a technical evaluation of the industrial city, recorded about 6,000 observations and proposed appropriate solutions. These observations were numerous ranging from the scarcity of street lighting columns, to asphalting, water leakage and other infrastructural faults in the industrial city.

Now in its third year, GESS will welcome more than 200 exhibitors from 27 countries to showcase the latest in educational solutions available on the market from Feb. 23-25 at Airport Expo, Dubai. Within three years since its launch, GESS has established itself as "the only education event that caters to the entire spectrum of educational needs, and has succeeded in filling a niche in the regional education market." Last year's show saw an year on year increase of 20 percent, bringing the total attendance numbers to 4,800 from across the GCC, Levant and Egypt, over the three day period.
