Ali bin Abdullah Al-Faqeeh, secretary-general of the charity and consultant for family and community medicine at King Abdulaziz University, said the caravan is provided with necessary medical equipment and medicine to carry out its mission perfectly.

“This program is arranged to realize the charity’s humanitarian and social objectives by providing medical assistance to poor individuals and families living in Bahrah,” Al-Faqeeh said.

He said the caravan would visit Qunfudah, Lith, Khulais, Asfan, Wadi Sitara and Bahrah as well as many remote villages.

“Hundreds of doctors and consultants are participating in this humanitarian program to volunteer their services for the poor,” he said. He said the society has been organizing such medical caravans throughout the year with the objective of serving the society. The society aims to provide various voluntary health services to people in the province, considering their requirements. It provides services such as treatment and preventive medicine for individuals and families.

It also extends first-aid services at times of crisis and catastrophes. It also conducts studies about health problems of youth and teenagers. Zamzam was established about six years ago under the umbrella of the Ministry of Social Affairs. It was formed following the success of a voluntary program to combat malaria in Qunfuda. It has a women’s wing.

The society offers mother and child care, operates mobile clinics to reach medical services to areas located far away from hospitals and provides medical consultancy services through phone.

It also runs a charitable pharmacy to provide medicine to patients who cannot afford it. Its members also visit patients at hospitals to provide necessary guidance and advice.
