Singh is slated to hold discussions with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah on Sunday and scheduled to deliver a talk at the Shoura Council on Monday. He will also meet Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal, Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Ali Al-Naimi and Commerce and Industry Minister Zainal Alireza. The Indian prime minister will address the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Sunday.

Economic relations between the two countries are growing. India imports about 30 percent of its oil needs from the Kingdom. Trade between the two countries in 2009 reached about SR103 billion.

The visit of King Abdullah to India as chief guest at India’s Republic Day ceremonies in January 2006 was the first for a Saudi ruler in 50 years. The Delhi Declaration signed by the king and the Indian premier paved the way for enhanced bilateral relations in the political, economic, security and cultural fields.
