“The new projects include street-lighting, asphalting and pavement construction of roads, rainwater drainage projects and development of beach and tourist locations,” Al-Sheikh said.

The official added there were several projects already in the middle of construction that would be completed in the course of the year.

“The recently completed projects include asphalting and street-lighting of roads leading to the new airport and the upgrading of the Corniche at the cost of SR15 million, development and improvement of Yanbu beach at the cost of SR2 million in addition to asphalting and street-lighting of many other districts,” he said.

The projects underway included a SR4 million project to expand entry points to Yanbu, a SR24 million project for asphalting, street-lighting and rain water drainage projects in several districts and construction plots, in addition to construction of public gardens, picnic locations and public grounds, he said.

He added that the municipal projects to be implemented shortly included asphalting and lighting of North Corniche Road and lighting of the central Halaga and expansion of entry points to the governorate.

Meanwhile, the operations and maintenance wing of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu has completed the second and third phases of a nine-kilometer green belt in Yanbu’s industrial city.

Hamid Sabih, director general of the operations and maintenance of the Royal Commission said: “The two phases were completed after adding about 6,500 trees including 850 palm trees to the first phase in addition to 16,000 small trees and green surfaces covering an area of 70,000 square meters.”
