Civil Defense teams rushed to the scene with rescue equipment as well as negotiators who played an important role in persuading the man to reconsider his actions.

However, it looked like they would fail in stopping him from jumping until his family, which included two of his children, came forward. His children started to cry when they saw their father on the edge of the building. The man then burst in tears and stepped back, allowing rescue workers to grab him and take him away from the edge.

It emerged that he attempted to commit suicide because he had racked up a large number of traffic violations from the Transport Ministry while driving his minibus, which was his only source of income. He was unable to pay the resulting fines.
