Pavelski assisted on the first two goals of the period to erase a 4-2 deficit and then twice scored the tiebreaking goal, leading the Sharks to their third straight comeback victory. The Sharks overcame one-goal deficits in the third period of their previous two games, rallying to beat Montreal and Columbus.

Dany Heatley also scored twice and had an assist, Manny Malhotra had a goal and two assists in the third period, Patrick Marleauscored his 40th goal, and Joe Thorntonand Jay Leach added goals. Patric Hornqvist and J.P. Dumont each scored twice for Nashville, and Colin Wilson added a goal.

San Jose moved two points ahead of Chicago for the Western Conference lead.

Blue Jackets 2 Thrashers 1: In Columbus, Ohio, Kristian Huselius had a goal and an assist and the Columbus Blue Jackets weathered a late rally to beat Atlanta, with the Thrashers’ loss clinching the Southeast Division title for the Washington Capitals.

The Thrashers, who lost their fourth in a row, had several good scoring chances after Johnny Oduya’sgoal with 2:21 left. But Mathieu Garon made 28 saves, including several big stops in the final minute while Atlanta had two extra attackers.

R.J. Umberger also scored for the Blue Jackets.

Chris Chelios, the 48-year-old defenseman who has starred for Montreal, Chicago and Detroit, made his debut for the Thrashers after being called up on Wednesday from Chicago of the American Hockey League.

Hurricanes 4 Penguins 3, OT: In Raleigh, N.C., Brian Pothier scored at 23 seconds of overtime for Carolina, and Eric Staal and Ray Whitney had a goal and an assist each.

Zach Boychuk also scored, and Justin Peters made 37 saves for the Hurricanes, 13-3-1 in their last 17 games. Matt CookeJordan Staal and Bill Guerin scored for the Penguins, who had their post-Olympic winning streak snapped at four.

Avalanche 3  Panthers 0: In Denver, Craig Anderson made 27 saves to move into a tie for the NHL shutout lead with seven, and Paul Stastny scored twice for Colorado.

Anderson matched New Jersey’s Martin Brodeur, Phoenix’s Ilya Bryzgalov and Florida’s Tomas Vokoun for the shutout lead. Vokoun made 28 saves for the Panthers.

Matt Hendricks also scored, and Chris Stewart had two assists to help the Avalanche snap the Panthers’ winning streak at three games.

Maple Leafs 4 Lightning 3, OT: In Toronto, Phil Kessel scored at 3:33 of overtime, and Viktor Stahlberg had two goals to help Toronto win for the third time in four games.

Tyler Bozak set up the winning goal and also scored in regulation.

Steven Stamkos, extending his points streak to 18 games with his 42nd goal of the season, Kurtis Foster and Steve Downie scored for Tampa  Bay. The Lightning have lost seven of their last eight games.

Blues 2 Islanders 1, SO: In Uniondale, N.Y., T.J. Oshie and Brad Boyes scored shootout goals to lift surging St. Louis to its sixth victory in seven games.

Patrik Berglund scored the tying goal for the Blues in the second period after Matt Moulsonstaked New York to the lead in the closing seconds of the first.

Chris Mason, playing in a ninth straight game, stopped 29 Islanders shots.

Flames 2  Senators 0: In Calgary, Alberta, Miikka Kiprusoff made 33 saves for fourth shutout of the season and 34th overall, and Jamal Mayers and Christopher Higginsscored for Calgary.

Calgary has won four straight to match seventh-place Nashville with 77 points in the Western Conference playoff race. Brian Elliott made 23 saves for Ottawa.

Red Wings 5 Wild 1: In Detroit, Johan Franzen scored twice, Henrik Zetterberg had a goal and two assists, and Jimmy Howardmade 21 saves for Detroit.

Tomas Holmstrom added a goal and an assist, and Drew Milleralso scored for Detroit. Andrew Ebbett scored for Minnesota.

Canadiens 5  Oilers 4, SO: In Montreal, Andrei Kostitsyn scored on Montreal’s fifth shootout attempt, and Jaroslav Halakturned aside five shots in the tiebreaker to help the Canadiens extend their winning streak to four games.

Sam Gagner whose power-play goal 3:43 in gave Edmonton its only lead at 2-1, lost control of the puck on the Oilers’ final attempt.

Tomas Plekanec, Brian Gionta, Travis Moenand Sergei Kostitsyn scored in regulation for Montreal. Robert Nilsson, Andrew Cogliano and Shawn Horcoffalso scored for Edmonton, last overall in the NHL with a 21-39-6 record and 49 points.

Bruins 5  Flyers 1: In Philadelphia, Tuukka Rask made 31 saves, and Mark Recchi(notes), Patrice Bergeronand David Krejciscored second-period goals for Boston.

Bergeron added two assists, and Blake Wheelerand Marco Sturmalso scored. Jeff Carterscored for Philadelphia.
