Chairman of the Jeddah Municipal Council Hussein Baaqeel said the facility, located close to residential districts, was currently causing environmental and health problems for people living in surrounding neighborhoods. He addressed council members representing Samir District at a meeting on Thursday, with municipality officials also in attendance.

He said the committee set up specifically to relocate the factory should work hard in order to fulfill the objective.

“We have already discussed alternative plans for recycling the medical waste after closing down the current factory.”
