- If you’d like to buy a pricey laptop but are concerned with holding on to the value of something which isn’t exactly nailed down, then perhaps “The Perfection Promise” will be the ideal incentive to purchase that new machine.
For a limited time, Toshiba Computer Systems, a division of Toshiba Europe GmbH is offering the “The Perfection Promise,” a service that provides the following coverage as a complimentary benefit, i.e. free, to all fully-paid Toshiba laptops purchased between March 15th and May 15th 2010:
• Accidental Damage coverage: Toshiba will give free of charge repair in case of any type of accidental damage to the laptop;
• Theft coverage: Toshiba will replace a stolen laptop in cases of theft that have been reported to the police;
• Unemployment coverage: Toshiba will give money back to the customer if the customer becomes unemployed for at least three months within one year of purchase; and
• Satisfaction Coverage: Toshiba will offer a replacement or refund if the laptop is returned within 14 days of purchase. The laptop must be undamaged and can’t have any missing items.
“Toshiba recognizes and understands that not everyone can be perfect; and that sometimes imperfect things happen. ‘The Perfection Promise’ is here to cater to customers who may experience such circumstances,” said Santosh Varghese, Regional GM, Computer Systems Division, Toshiba.
“The Perfection Promise” coverage is available to residents of Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt. To participate, customers need to register within seven days after the date of purchase of their Toshiba laptop. “The rollout of ‘The Perfection Promise’ in the Middle East’s three largest markets is actually the second phase of the rollout of this offering,” said John J. Maliakal, country manager — Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Libya, Computer Systems Division, Toshiba Gulf FZE. “An earlier version of this product was made available in Europe last year and it was quite a success in increasing customer confidence towards Toshiba.”
Maliakal gave some important clarifications concerning “The Perfection Promise.” In regards to the theft coverage, the covered Toshiba laptop would have to be stolen from a secure location such as a home or office. If the laptop were stolen from an airport or coffee shop it would be considered “carelessness” and even if a police report were made, Maliakal advised that the laptop wouldn’t be replaced. As to the accidental damage coverage, such coverage would be for accidental damage — not if Toshiba determines that the damage was maliciously caused. For instance, if a toddler took a hammer to the laptop or if some attempt was being made to modify the computer’s hardware, the machine wouldn’t be repaired free. It must be noted that all machines purchased during the eligibility period must have been bought from authorized Toshiba resellers in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the UAE. Toshiba laptops purchased grey market — that is those laptops obtained through unauthorized distribution channels — cannot be enrolled for “The Perfection Promise,” even if they are original Toshiba equipment.
“With this coverage Toshiba is offering customers much more than a standard warranty would provide and giving purchasers a means to solve many of the genuine issues in owning a laptop,” said Maliakal. “The Satisfaction Coverage portion of ‘The Perfection Promise’ is actually an opportunity for customers to try our laptops without hesitation. If a Toshiba laptop doesn’t meet the requirement, just bring it back within 14 days after purchase and either choose a more suitable Toshiba notebook or take a refund. Our aim is to make a Toshiba laptop purchase a positive, stress-free experience.”
