The Painting & Patronage Program, run by both nations since 2000, is a cultural, artistic and educational outreach and student exchange program.

The purpose of the program, which will take place under the joint presidency of Prince Khaled and Prince Charles, is to build bridges of artistic and educational understanding between the Arab world and Europe and to establish a deeper understanding of each other’s distinct and diverse cultures and traditions.

The new program will be delivered in the UK through a partnership of the Prince’s School of Traditional Arts, and Painting & Patronage, of which Prince Khaled is president.

The Prince’s School is an educational charity, which specializes in teaching, researching, and promoting the practice and theory of arts and crafts from the world’s great traditions.

Since its creation in 1999, Painting & Patronage has become a prominent Saudi Arabian cultural initiative that organizes summer schools, outreach programs, exhibitions, lecture series and scholarships between Saudi Arabia and Europe.

A school and community outreach program, which will initally be held in Burnley and London, is one of the central features of the newly announced Painting and Patronage UK program.

Through a cross-curricula approach, which integrates art, math and philosophy, schools and community groups will learn how to produce patterns of nature reflected in traditional art and design and will use these skills to collaboratively produce works of art.

By working together, children from different schools and cultural backgrounds share knowledge and experience.

The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts will also host a Painting & Patronage exchange program for students from Saudi Arabia to spend a year at the school’s postgraduate program in London. Through a series of courses students are introduced to the arts of the world’s great traditions.

Each course demonstrates the practical skills behind the craft and their principles.

By experiencing the traditional arts as living skills, both tutors and students participate in the regeneration of the universal principles.

London Mayor Nicholas Anstee, who visited the Kingdom two months ago, said he expected cooperation between the two countries to increase in the coming years.

He said there are more than 20,000 Saudi students in Britain, in addition to nearly 10,000 Saudis seeking to improve their English language skills.
