The CIB said 190 people, including 76 Saudis and 114 foreigners, were charged with counterfeiting. It added that 53 cases of power abuse had been filed against 75 Saudis, and that 62 cases of exploitation of authority and administrative misuse were filed against 106 Saudis.

The CIB is a government body that oversees government departments to check on how well they are committed to rules and regulations and official working hours.

The board said it carried out 28,434 inspections during the six months under review and added that it is considering various criminal and disciplinary cases which will be forwarded to the Court of Grievances.

Meanwhile, the board said it had charged six employees at the Jeddah municipality with corruption and embezzling money from a program to combat dengue fever. The amount of money embezzled ranged from SR100,000 to SR100 million.

The six employees, who include four administrators and two engineers,  worked in the department for combating insects.

Lawyer Suleiman Al-Jumaie said some of the employees have asked him to represent them and that he will decide whether to do so after reading the charges against them.

Al-Jumaie said the employees say they were authorized to spend SR500,000 a week on drivers, fuel and car repairs.
