Hyderabad City Police Commissioner A. K. Khan said “Friday was an important day for us from the law and order point of view. I am happy that the twin cities—both the curfew-bound areas and the non-curfew parts—remained totally peaceful. No untoward incident has been reported from anywhere.”

The commissioner said that though there was no curfew relaxation, Muslims were allowed to offer prayers in the local mosques, under tight police supervision. Elaborate security arrangements were made for the Friday prayers with the cooperation of Muslim religious leaders and elders.
