- KHARTOUM: A key Sudanese opposition party in the country's north says it will boycott this week's local and parliamentary elections.
The pullout by the Umma Party is another blow to the first multiparty elections in more than two decades in Sudan.
The main southern party, the Sudanese People's Liberation Movement, has already announced it would boycott the poll in the northern states.
Senior Umma party official Mariam Sadiq told reporters early Thursday that the government and the national election commission failed to respond to her party's conditions on key reforms.
Sudanese opposition parties accuse the ruling National Congress Party of using state resources, limiting their access to the media and controlling the election commission.
