The meeting was sponsored by the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CSCCI) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Riyadh. The meeting was attended by 140 heads of missions in Saudi embassies abroad and about 100 Saudi businessmen and senior officials from ministries of foreign affairs and labor.

Yousef Al-Sadoun, undersecretary for development of trade and culture at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, led the team of Saudi diplomats, while CSCCI Vice President Khalid Al-Seif chaired the local businessman’s delegation.

In his opening remarks, Al-Seif said the aim of the meeting was to open joint dialogue between the ambassadors and businessmen to take advantage of the development of the Saudi economy.

He said the council has received more than 93 foreign delegations and had sent 19 Saudi trade teams to various foreign countries.

He pointed out that the meeting comes within the framework of the desire of the private sector to develop a common strategic vision for the development of the economic policy of the Kingdom.

Speaking on the occasion, Al-Sadoun described the meeting as historic for bringing diplomats and business executives to a common platform to develop trade and attract investments.

He said that there is pressing need to identify the actual role that could be played by Saudi ambassadors and local businessmen in promoting the country’s trade and investments.
