BJP legislator Devendra Phadnavis, presented a copy of a CD to the assembly in which Pune horse breeder and billionaire Hassan Ali, who was arrested for tax evasion and money laundering, is seen telling the interrogators about the secret meeting by the NCP and Congress ministers discussing about appointing Gafoor as the Mumbai police commissioner. Phadnavis demanded narco-analysis tests on the accused who also claimed to have been present at the meeting.

Stung by the allegations, Patil ordered a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) inquiry into the claims made by Hassan Ali against him, Deshmukh, Bhujbal and Patel of holding the secret meeting and thundered with anger.

The government was further embarrassed when legislator Jayant Patil of the Peasant and Workers Party (PWP) presented a video clip taken on his mobile phone to the deputy chairman of the legislative council Vasant Davkare, which showed policemen deployed for the security of the legislators and the Assembly gambling with cards and placing heavy bets inside the Legislature campus.

The legislator alleged that policemen from nearby police station were providing food and drinks to the gambling cops at a price. How the legislators can be safe if those meant to protect them are very busy in gambling, he asked. Sena legislator Diwakar Raote agreed with the sentiments and views expressed by Patil and demanded a statement from the home minister. The deputy speaker of the house then directed the government to make a statement in the house, which is expected to be made shortly by Home Minister R.R. Patil.
