The General Department of the Royal Commission of Yanbu in cooperation with the Traffic Department will soon start implementing the new regulation following an informational campaign that will take place in the coming weeks.

The new penalty comes at a time when the municipality under the Royal Commission had recorded a huge increase in the quantity of rubbish being collected off the streets.

At least one resident welcomed the measure.

“Such a step will help considerably in putting an end to this undesirable practice,” said Yanbu local Badr Al-Rasheedi. 

The municipalities of Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam had earlier announced similar plans. However, no concrete steps have been taken so far in this regard.
