At least 40 men and women had submitted a report to the local Health Affairs Department complaining about the lack of services at Ohod Hospital and other obstacles that prevented them from improving the level of care for patients.

The department reacted by having them investigated before charging them for trying to damage the reputation of the hospital.

The nurses reacted by complaining to the Nurses' Office at the hospital, claiming that the Health Affairs Department's decision was unjust.

They have refused to be identified, fearing a further backlash against them.

"Our complaint did not single out any person. We are complaining about mistakes committed, which reflect negatively on the quality of service provided to patients. We do not have an artificial respiration section. The Health Affairs Department refuses to improve the knowledge of hospital staff through training programs," one of the male nurses said.

Another claimed that nurses at the hospital did not even have their own rooms to put their private belongings in or change their clothes after a busy day.

"Doctors interfere in our jobs without any reason. They even interfere in our task distribution and vacations. This resulted in nurses moving to administration jobs or moving to another hospital altogether," she said.

The nurses’ complaints also include performing tasks not specified in their job descriptions. This included assigning nurses to check for medicine, which is usually only assigned to pharmacists. The nurses claimed this would affect the quality of services provided to patients.

One of the nurses complained that doctors managed them as if they were servants and not nurses, asking them to bring gloves and then throwing them away.
