He said he joined this service for two months and had to cancel because he thought it was bad and slow.

He then forgot about the service, especially after the stock exchange collapsed and the sharks swam away with their gains.

He said he did not hear from the bank for two years until very recently, when he received a letter from the bank telling him that SR83 had been deducted from his account as monthly charges for the service.

He contacted the bank and was shocked to find out that his subscription was still running despite his official request for termination. He learned that SR2,000 had been deducted from him over the past three years.

He said he filed a complaint to the bank and received a reply telling him that the amount was deducted from his account in lieu of the “financial investments” the bank was doing on his behalf! He cried who will save us from the banks?

Here is another example for you. A friend went to one of the banks recently to take advantage of the new offers so he could finance the purchase of a new home. He found out that he would have to pay SR1.5 million over 15 years, despite only asking for a loan of SR600,000! I leave it to you to calculate the interest.

It is a fact that the banks have made billions of riyals from trading on the savings of the citizens, who will not take interest on these funds because it might be classed as usury.

The banks have actually slaughtered low-income citizens using the knife of “Islamic banking” through accumulative financing loans that are among the most expensive in the world.

These banks take unjust charges on any electronic banking transaction. What have these banks done for the citizens and the homeland?

You know what? We do not want the social services of these banks, but who will keep them at bay? Who will protect the simple citizen from them?

I may be a dreamer or you can say I am insane, but the situation requires civic societies, human rights organizations and lawyers to review loans past and present and the finances of the banks.

They should intervene to help provide justice for the citizens and to force banks to restructure their loans according to international standards.

The citizen here is not for sale. He is also not cheaper than his pearls anywhere in the world.
