The man made the complaint at Al-Hamra police station in Tabuk on Wednesday, according to Al-Watan newspaper. “The man refused to go to hospital to check whether his injuries were serious. He came to the police station, filed a complaint and took his wife home,” said Salih Al-Harbi, spokesman for Tabuk police.

The man also accused his 48-year-old wife of sometimes threatening him with a knife or a cleaver. “She also kicked him out of the family home and built him a tin room on the roof of their house despite the house being of a large and comfortable size. The tin room does not have air-conditioning or anything else of comfort,” he added.

The couple’s sons said their mother keeps beating their father for trivial reasons. The eldest son was kicked out of the house after he objected to his mother’s behavior and moved to Riyadh.

Meanwhile, the younger son blames his father for not standing up for himself when she began beating him up many years ago.

The wife, on the other hand, has denied the accusation, claiming her husband does not financially support the family and that she is forced to work to support them.

The woman also said she has been asking her husband for a divorce for a long time and that he constantly refuses. “He does not even own the house we live in,” she said.

“The case has now been referred to the Commission for Investigation and Prosecution to look into,” said Al-Harbi. “We’ve asked both sides of the family to interfere and resolve the matter,” he added.
