- JEDDAH: Prince Abdullah bin Miteb, the king’s grandson, has appeared for the first time in a television commercial for telecommunications company Mobily.
Mobily has been sponsoring Prince Abdullah for the last year as he is a professional jockey.
“We aim to sponsor successful sportsmen and teams. We have also sponsored soccer clubs, several sports associations and schools before we approached the prince,” said Humoud Al-Ghobaini, Mobily’s vice president for corporate communications.
The one-minute advert shows the prince caring for his horse and riding it over a fence that is on fire before saying: “In a world full of challenges, our passion leads us to success, to be in the lead. This is what we are at Mobily.”
Mobily claims to have similarities with the prince. The company claims both are daring, aggressive and on the rise.
“Prince Abdullah is new to this sport yet he is receiving international trophies and is now the No. 1 jockey in the Gulf and Arabian world,” said Al-Ghobaini.
“Mobily is the same as it has only been existing for five years, yet it is now widely known and preferred by many mobile owners,” he added. “The TV commercial was very successful and the company received really good feedback. I guess people were impressed with the prince’s down-to-earth approach.”
Prince Abdullah has qualified for the fence-jumping world cup in Geneva.
