The event at the Mehran restaurant celebrated the 72nd anniversary of Allama Iqbal’s death. He was a philosopher who is still revered in the Subcontinent.

Arab News, which recently celebrated its 35th anniversary, and Editor in its Chief Khaled Almaeena were praised by guests at the event for contributing to the strengthening of relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan as well as highlighting the ongoing crisis in Kashmir and the plight of Pakistani workers in the Kingdom and other countries.

Guest of honor and renowned Saudi writer Samira Aziz said in her speech that the Muslim world still has to work hard to fulfill Iqbal’s dream for a united and prosperous Islamic community.

Participants at the event called for the creation of a university in Allama Iqbal’s name, a reactivation of the Rabita Trust, which helps repatriate stranded Pakistanis, and to resolve the ongoing conflict in Kashmir, among others.
