- MAKKAH: A six-year-old Bangladeshi child died after getting stuck between an elevator and a wall at a building on Makkah’s Umm Al-Qura Street on Saturday.
A team of Civil Defense officers was called to the building to free the child, who died by the time they arrived. The Civil Defense said the death was accidental and the building’s owner would be liable to pay blood money to the family of the child.
The Civil Defense is still investigating the incident. It further urged all building owners to use proper maintenance companies to service their elevators to ensure such incidents do not recur.
