On instructions from King Abdullah, the twins, Mohammed and Amjad, arrived here on Friday with their parents for surgery at the King Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC) in Riyadh.

In a statement issued from Amman, Al-Fayez thanked the king on behalf of his government for his generosity in extending a helping hand to a distressed family.

“Such a noble gesture as providing the treatment free-of-charge is nothing new to the Kingdom since it is acclaimed as the Kingdom of Humanity.”

The minister went on to say, “By virtue of my close association with the Kingdom, I know personally that the surgery is handled by Saudi doctors and the surgical team is headed by Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah.”

He said that he had visited most of the major health facilities in the Kingdom and they provided people with state-of-the-art health-care services.

Al-Rabeeah, who is head of the paramedical team, said Tuesday that the separation surgery would take place on Thursday with the rehearsal for the operation on Wednesday.

“The boys are ready for the surgery following a series of clinical tests including ultrasound, echocardiogram, X-ray, CT scan and blood tests,” Al-Rabeeah said, adding that it would be the 27th separation surgery in the Kingdom.

He also said that the three-month-old twins weigh eight kilograms, which is a positive signal for the surgery.
