The arrests happened after four young Arab nationals robbed a Bangladeshi worker of his iqama (residence permit), SR700 and mobile phone. Police were able to apprehend the criminals shortly afterward.

Police started questioning the robbers, who have violated iqama regulations, to find out details of any other crimes they may have committed, said Jeddah police spokesman Col. Misfar Al-Joaed.

In a separate incident, five young men, also Arab nationals, robbed a Pakistani of his iqama, mobile phone and wallet containing SR4,190. Officers were again able to catch the robbers, who confessed to their crimes. Two of the men were already wanted in connection with other offenses.

Al-Joaed urged citizens and expatriates to inform police about any suspicious activity.

"Even a minor tip would help us apprehend criminals involved in major crimes and subsequently stop their illegal activities," he said. He also unveiled plans for local police to intensify their patrols, particularly in districts that are notorious crime hotspots.
