The drill was attended by the employees of several government bodies including the Makkah Civil Defense, the Bahra municipality, King Abdulaziz Medical City, the National Guard’s Field Medical Unit in the province, the Firefighting Unit at the National Guard and the Saudi Red Crescent Society.

The half-hour drill was held to test how prepared employees of these bodies are in the event of a fire, and to raise awareness about how to deal with emergencies.

Following the drill, a meeting was held to review the outcome of the drill.

Col. Sami Al-Jedaani, director for rescue and firefighting at the Civil Defense in Makkah, underlined the need to hold such drills to increase public awareness in tackling emergencies.
