The funds were raised at the Color Their Life Art Auction that was held to raise money for the Disabled Children’s Association at the King Abdullah Center.

The event, held on Monday evening at Jeddah’s Laylati Hall, was attended by princesses, prominent businesswomen and diplomats. Unlike previous years, there were no arrangements for men to attend this year’s event.

The 34 pieces of art on auction had been painted by some 90 disabled children along with five professional Saudi artists. The themes of the paintings included Islam, love of the country, culture, free interpretation, Arabic calligraphy and photography.

The children had also painted another 36 pieces, which were not part of the auction but were on display on the side of the hall. Cash raised is to be used to help children under the age of 13 who use the center. Around SR70,000 is needed to help a single disabled child at the center for a year.
