At Baltimore, Luke Scott's grand slam capped a five-run eighth inning against reliever Brandon League as Baltimore rallied to beat Seattle from 5-1 down.

The Orioles held on to win when left fielder Corey Patterson nailed Josh Wilson at the plate for the final out. Wilson tried to score from second on Ichiro Suzuki's single.

Held to five hits over seven innings by Seattle starter Felix Hernandez, the Orioles promptly broke loose against the Marines (3-3).

Corey Patterson, promoted from Triple-A earlier this week, hit a leadoff homer in the eighth to start the comeback.

At Arlington, Texas, Vladimir Guerrero delivered an RBI single in the 12th inning for Texas to beat Oakland.

Guerrero was 0 for 5 before lining a shot deep into the left-center gap off Oakland closer Andrew Bailey (0-1) to drive home Michael Young.

Elvis Andrus led off the 12th with his fourth hit, but was then caught stealing. Young drew a walk and Josh Hamilton had a single before Guerrero's winning hit.

Jake Fox had three hits for Oakland.

At Kansas City, Missouri, the home team fired manager Trey Hillman immediately after Zack Greinke earned his first win in eight starts at Cleveland's expense.

Alberto Callaspo hit a three-run homer and the Royals snapped a seven-game skid by roughing up Cleveland starter David Huff (1-5) and giving Greinke (1-4) his most run support of the season. The hard-luck right-hander made the most of it, winning for the first time since September by allowing up three runs in six innings.

The 47-year-old Hillman was in his third season with Kansas City and went 152-207. Former Milwaukee manager Ned Yost, who had joined the Royals' front office in January, took over.
 

In St. Louis, Bud Norris shut down the St. Louis Cardinals for a fourth straight time as the Houston Astros wrapped up a three-game sweep with a 4-1 victory in the National League on Thursday.

Houston posted its first sweep in St. Louis since April 2004.

Lance Berkman extended his streak of reaching base to nine in a row with a double and two singles, and Hunter Pence hit a three-run homer in the third.

Norris (2-4) is 4-0 with a 0.35 ERA in four career starts against St. Louis.

At San Francisco, Mat Latos allowed just a single that deflected off him for a one-hitter and drove in the lone run, leading first-place San Diego to its second sweep of San Francisco this season.

Latos (3-3) retired the first 15 batters and increased his scoreless innings streak to 18 as the Padres swept the Giants in their waterfront ballpark for the first time since May 2005. He didn't allow a baserunner until the sixth.

The Padres wrapped up an impressive 5-1 road trip, and improved to 6-0 this season against San Francisco. San Diego has won 10 of the last 13 in the rivalry.
