David Goodwillie put the Premier League side ahead in the 61st minute before heading on a 75th-minute throw for Craig Conway to score. Conway scored again with four minutes left.

"What a day for the fans," Conway said. "To score two and win: it's unbelievable. I can't wait for tonight." But Goodwillie's goal was the best of the day at Hampden Park.

He collected a misplaced clearance from goalkeeper Michael McGovern with one touch and lobbed it back into the net with a second from the edge of the area to put the Terrors on the way to their first trophy since the 1994 Scottish Cup.

Second-tier club Ross County has won only the third- and fourth-tier leagues.

"All week we've been built up as favorites and told we'll become legends if we win it," Conway said. "That's a lot of pressure and I thought the lads dealt with that well.

"We dominated the match from start to finish." After Goodwillie had opened the scoring, Conway collected Goodwillie's header before advancing on goal and finishing with a shot under McGovern.

Morgaro Gomis then crossed from the right late on for Conway to control the ball and score with a low shot from about 12 meters.
