Sri Lankan Consul General A.L. Sabarullah Khan was chief guest at the event. School Principal F.H. Wahab reviewed school activities and called for a joint effort on the part of teachers, parents and students in promoting the school's educational and co-curricular activities. Certificates were awarded for general proficiency — 1st, 2nd and 3rd places — to students from Grade 1 to Grade 9. Subject prizes (1st place) were also given to students from Grade 1 to Grade 9. Students who obtained A stars and As at the IGCSE examination in 2009 were also honored.

IGCSE subject teachers were also felicitated. Certificates were awarded to winners of the poetry, oratory, creative writing and impromptu speech competitions during the year and for regular attendance. The consul general awarded a gold medal to Yashodhi Shashikala, who obtained the best results (5 A stars & 2 As) at the IGCSE examination that was held in May 2009.

The certificates and prizes were awarded to students by the consul general and his wife Nafla Khan, Principal F.H. Wahab, Chairman of the school board of management M.L.M. Imran, Logistics Chairman M.T.M. Yahya, board members Shahul Hameed Salih and Subbiah Maheson, guest speaker Mary Thomas, President of the Expatriates Society Neville Siriwardene, and President of the Professionals Association Mahroof Haj Mohideen.
