Prince Guillaume, who also met Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, called on the two nations and their public as well as private organizations to enhance cooperation in the investment and the financial fields.

Prince Guillaume said that King Abdullah shares the view that the Kingdom and Luxembourg have an “excellent political relationship that needs to be translated into exchanges in all fields of economic activity.”

Prince Guillaume, who will deliver a key note speech at the Euromoney conference, was addressing a symposium on Monday on “Luxembourg: The business hub in Europe.” The prince also met Riyadh Gov. Prince Salman.

Jeannot Krecke, Luxembourg’s minister of economy and trade, also spoke on the occasion. The event was attended by Hussein Al-Athal, secretary-general of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), Pierre Gramegna, director general of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, and Belgian Ambassador Michel Lastschenko. It was also attended by a number of Saudi officials, businessmen and diplomats.

Addressing the audience, Prince Guillaume said that Luxembourg has a lot to offer, as it is a modern dynamic economy with first class financial and professional services. “The people of the Arabian Peninsula have a history as merchants and traders that spans millennia … You have an innate understanding that business is as much a matter of personal relationships as it is of financial interest,” he added.

The crown prince, who is leading a business delegation of about 40 top officials and businessmen, urged Saudi investors, businessmen and tourists to visit Luxembourg.

The goals of the Luxembourg mission is to promote Luxemburg as an entry port to Europe, especially for the establishment of regional headquarters and the structuring of financial assets and investment policies, said Belgian Ambassador Lastschenko.

Prince Guillaume also met Prince Alwaleed, chairman of the Kingdom Holding Company, and conferred on him the prestigious medal of Commander of the Order of Adolf Nassau.

In Jeddah, the crown prince will speak at a seminar to be attended by Saudi businessmen on the weekend. Luxembourg is the second largest investment fund center in the world and the Eurozone’s premier hub for private banking.
