“It is our honor to be a part of helping the community and we are excited to further develop additional corporate social responsibility programs with Saudi Aramco, such as educating the public in road safety and environmental initiatives,” said SSA managing director Kyung Bae Choi.

“This is in addition to our commitment to help facilitate job creation and transfer our technology to local Saudi engineers as we work on our projects,” he added.

He said SSA had helped in local community campaigns, including beach cleaning, employee volunteering and donating to people with disabilities and Down syndrome, while also conducting summer training programs in the Kingdom.

“These activities are in line with the business philosophy of Samsung Engineering and Samsung Group as a socially responsible global organization,” said Choi.

The two companies expressed pleasure at being able to team up with each other for the initiative.

“The noble act of donating blood will not only give a new lease of life to many, it also heightens our common sense of social responsibility by serving the humanitarian and social needs of our local communities,” said head of Saudi Aramco’s CSR division Abdullah Ghamdi.

SSA, which is currently handling billions of riyal worth of projects, was founded in 1999 as a major engineering and procurement office of Samsung Engineering Co. Ltd., based in Seoul, South Korea.

Since then, SSA has implemented over 13 projects valued at a total of $7 billion.

Choi claimed the long-term partnership with Saudi Aramco was solidified with the new long-term CSR joint venture.
