- MUMBAI: The sole surviving Pakistani gunman from the 2008 Mumbai siege, Mohammed Ajmal Amir Qasab, who was sentenced to death by Special Court judge M.L.
- Tahaliyani earlier this month, was ordered on Friday to shed away his T-shirt and jeans and don the death row outfit, which he did in the presence of the superintendent of the high-security Arthur Road prison in central Mumbai.
According to prison sources, Qasab is held in solitary confinement in a reinforced cell that is guarded by more than 200 commandos of the elite Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP). Qasab will remain in prison until all legal formalities for his execution are completed.
Speaking about how Qasab spends his time in prison, an official said, “Qasab is not allowed outside his cell and therefore cannot interact with other prisoners or prison officials except the security guards guarding him.”
