- TEHRAN, Iran: Iran's official news agency says authorities have hanged the brother of the leader of a Sunni militant group that has waged an insurgency in the southeastern region bordering Pakistan.
IRNA says Abdulhamid Rigi was executed on Monday in Zahedan, where he had "terrorized the citizens." He was captured in Pakistan in 2008 and extradited to Iran.
His brother, Abdulmalik Rigi, was arrested in Iran in February and authorities have said he confessed to acting on orders from US and other Western intelligence agencies to undermine Iran's government.
Iran has long accused the US and Britain of aiding Jundallah, a charge they deny. Tehran also says the group has links to Al-Qaeda.
Jundallah has claimed bombing attacks that have killed dozens in recent years.
