- JEDDAH: Mayor of Jeddah Adel Fakieh opened on behalf of Makkah Gov.
- Prince Khaled Al-Faisal the Jeddah Architectural Heritage Exhibition on Monday night in the city’s downtown Balad district.
Fakieh expressed his happiness at the event, and also announced that a new company, Jeddah Historical Company for Developers, would be launched in two months time to rebuild and renovate old buildings in the area.
The five-day exhibit is being held in the city's historical district with the main exhibits in the Naseef, Bassiouni and Abu Safiyyah Houses.
Works of art and handmade crafts are being shown at Bassiouni House, whose renovation the municipality has just recently completed. “This exhibition seeks to document, display and highlight the unique architectural heritage of Jeddah. That includes its buildings, villages, heritage, character, traditional industries, old souqs and simple pattern of life,” said Adnan Adas, director of Historical Jeddah Urban Regeneration and Development.
