The victim later died en route to hospital. Police spokesman for Tabuk province Saleh Al-Harbi said detectives are still trying to determine the circumstances and motives behind the killing.

He said members of the public had found the victim bleeding in an area outside the city.

Al-Harbi said they took him to King Khaled Hospital in Tabuk, but he died before reaching there.

He added that they then contacted police, who immediately started investigations. Al-Harbi said the hospital also informed the Al-Hamra police station after they received the unidentified victim.

"The police and the Prosecution and Investigation Commission immediately rushed to the scene of the crime and started their investigations," he said.

He vowed that those responsible would be caught and brought to justice.

The Tabuk region has witnessed a spate of murders recently, including the brutal killing of a woman by her husband in the province of Dhiba.

The killer had stabbed the victim several times in front of their children. The family was Saudi.

A young Saudi man was also stabbed to death in a football playground following a massive brawl.
