“The Egyptian law stipulates the confiscation of cash worth more than 5,000 Egyptian pounds carried by visitors while arriving or leaving Egypt,” a statement from the ministry said.

It asked Saudi citizens to transfer any needed extra amounts through banks.

The ministry urged Saudi citizens to observe the fiscal laws of any country they are visiting in order to avoid legal problems.

Saudi fiscal law makes it imperative for all people coming into or leaving the country to declare currencies and other valuables worth more than SR60,000.

People coming in or going out of the Kingdom are also asked to respect intellectual property rights laws.
