- JEDDAH: A five-year-old Saudi boy died and his 32-year-old mother and three-year-old brother were left with burns when a fire broke out at their home, a first floor apartment, in south Jeddah on Sunday.
Capt. Abdul Rahman Al-Amri, spokesman for the Civil Defense, said two fire brigades, two Civil Defense teams and an ambulance attended the fire on Al-Mahjar Street.
He said the fire was quickly put out but the child had inhaled large quantities of smoke. “The mother and the other boy suffered serious burns and were rushed to King Abdul Aziz Hospital. Investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of the fire,” he added.
