- JEDDAH: Spokesman of the Commission for the Promotion Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Haia) in Hail, Mutlaw bin Simaihan Al-Nabit, denied on Thursday media reports that three of Haia members beat up a citizen and damaged his mobile phone last week.
He asked the media to be observe accuracy and credibility in what it publishes.
The spokesman said a thorough investigation of the claim proved that a man was courting girls. The team stopped him and explained to him the violations he had committed and asked him to write a pledge not to repeat such acts.
He said the man had a previous infraction on his record for which he was punished at the time.
The spokesman said the man came to the chairman of the commission's office but did not mention anything about aggression against him.
“This contradicts what has been published by the local newspapers,” he said.
