Five books by the society’s members, including “Reforms in Saudi Arabia”  by Samar Fatany, a well-known columnist and radio journalist, and two novels will be launched at the ceremony.

Other books which will be available are: “Al-Hubb Daiman” (Love Always), a novel by Dr. Amal Shatta; “Imraa Alal Haffa” (A Woman on the Brink), a novel by Suad Jaber; and Al-Amthal Al-Shaabiya in Hejaz” (Folk Parables in Hejaz) and “Taqasum Al-Tawajus” (Dispelling Apprehensions), an anthology of poems, both by Etidal Otaiwi.

Nabeela Mahjoub, president of the society’s constituent council, described Kalema as a pioneering and influential organization. “It promotes intellectual and cultural discourses in Saudi society,” she said.

It also works to unify the efforts of its members and makes use of their capabilities to bring about necessary changes in society, she said.

Speaking about the ceremony, Dr. Najat Al-Saigh, secretary-general of the society, said it aimed at spreading intellectual, cultural and social awareness, which is one of Kalema’s objectives.

“It also aims at highlighting the achievements of our members,” the secretary-general said.

Al-Saigh emphasized the society’s intention to establish contacts with intellectuals and academics inside and outside the Kingdom.

The signing ceremony will start at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and continue until 11 p.m., Al-Saigh said and invited the public to attend the function.
