In a press statement, the foundation said Haifa District Court rejected a request by the family of Palestinian photojournalist Nazih Darwazih who was shot dead by Israeli soldiers while covering clashes between Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli soldiers in the West Bank city of Nablus in 2003.

The foundation said that Darwazih's family filed the petition in 2004. The family is calling for compensation for the "material and moral damage” experienced by Darwazih’s family consisting of his wife and children —Sameh, 18, Razan, 16, Sami, 14, Hosam, 9, and Amjad, 7.

Palestinians who sustain material or moral damaged are required to pursue a long and complicated process of filing for damages. The chances of being compensated in a reasonable amount of time are considered limited.

The center said that the family will file another petition with the Israeli High Court of Justice.
