According to lawyer Sultan bin Zahim, lawyers have long waited for the association to see the light.

The proposal to form a lawyers’ advocacy association was approved by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques five years ago, but the process was temporarily halted when the new minister of justice was appointed.

“The new minister, who is an academic man and is still lecturing at the university, supervised the final steps of this first-time project,” said Bin Zahim.

Clarifying the procedures to be followed in the formation of the association, Bin Zahim said the Council of Ministers registers all proposals submitted to it before forwaring them to the Experts Council.

The Experts Council works like a forensic kitchen where the regulations, the bylaws and the organizing lists are formed.

Finally, the whole project is referred to the Shoura Council, which, after applying the final touches, presents it to the king for approval.

Once the project of the lawyers association receives the royal approval, Bin Zahim states, lawyers design the executive regulations.

“I have presented to the deputy minister a suggestion that all complaints are presented to this association from both sides,” said Bin Zahim.
