- MAKKAH: While hundreds of thousands of pilgrims were deeply engrossed in the night prayers in the Grand Mosque recently, two African pickpockets found it a God-given opportunity to practice their trade with ease and comfort.
Or so they thought until a police officer noticed and caught them red handed while picking the pocket of another African pilgrim. Police recovered SR 10,000 from their pockets, Al-Madinah reported on Friday. One could imagine there to be a special ring in hell for people who steal from pilgrims at a holy site.
